America's Finest City
San Diego Zip Codes
San Diego Zip Codes
San Diego County is very diverse in terms of the number of communities in and around the city. Here are some details and a list of every San Diego zip code to help you navigate America’s finest city.
Local Tips
Torrey Pines Beach
If you want to get away from the crowd (kind of), Torrey Pines is the place even if parking can sometimes be difficult. From the sand bluffs to the ocean, it is amazing hiking. Torrey Pines State National Reserve is one of the most beautiful places in San Diego, and depending on the time of year, you can also see migrating whales and seals.
Balboa Park
The history and the architecture are unbelievable; this park is amazing. San Diego County residents get into select Museums for free each Tuesday of the month, and in December they have December Nights, like the Del Mar Fair, but winter themed. Get there early, as parking here is ample and open, but it does fill up fast.
Hiking Trails
There are hiking trails all over San Diego County. When people talk about hiking, you will hear about Potato Chip Rock, and Cowles Mountain, which are all great, and definitely worth a try. But the amazing view that comes at the top of the Stonewall Peak Trail located near Julian, is absolutely amazing. Get there before 10 am, and you’ll have an amazingly uncrowded 2-hour hike.
Farmers Markets
There is an unexplained passion in San Diego about straight from the farm into the city with farmers markets. They are everywhere. If you can find parking, go to the Pacific Beach farmers market on Tuesdays, the North Park farmers market on Thursdays and the Little Italy MERCATO farmers market on Saturday, you won’t be disappointed. There is even one in Poway.
Breakfast Spots
There are some amazing breakfast places in San Diego, but there are definitely 2 that really stand out. The Cottage in La Jolla and Breakfast Repubic in Scripps Ranch Get there early, because they both have long lines after 10 am.
Mission Bay Park
An excellent place to hang out with friends, BBQ and have a party. Others seem to like to be on the grass in lawn chairs for just relaxing. Parking everywhere.
Locals
Not everyone surfs.
Taco Shops
There are so many amazing taco shops throughout San Diego. Whichever one you choose, make sure that you try the California Burrito (carne asada, french fries, cheese, and if you like, pico de gallo). One of Jeremy's personal favorites is Jalapeños in Carmel Mountain Ranch. (Try the Surf & Turf Burrito with white sauce)
Shelter Island
This is a great place to take your dog for a walk. There is a sidewalk the entire length of the park. There is mostly grass right next to the sidewalk. There are plenty of places to drop off the dog bags if needed. There is also a teeny beach area. Not for swimming, but there is a little sand by the water.
IN & OUT
You are welcome in advance for this awesome burger place. Every IN & OUT drive through is going to be packed regardless of when you get there! But if you ask for your burger to be "mustard fried," you will not regret it! (Plus they add pickles)
Popular San Diego Home Features
In San Diego, basements are rare.
We do have waterfront property, not only on the San Diego beaches but also on lakes. (Lake San Marcos)
San Diego has many golf course communities.
Guest houses are popular here. Picture a small house, most often detached that can be used as a mother in law quarters, pool house, etc.
There are gated neighborhoods in San Diego, some are guard gated and this will definitely make a difference in your HOA fees.
Closer to the City of San Diego, lot sizes are generally small. If you want a larger lot, you’ll want to find communities that are known for larger lots or do a custom search specifically for these with Jeremy, your trusted San Diego real estate agent.
Not all houses, condos, or townhouses in San Diego County include an air conditioner. Trust Jeremy when he says, "You want an air conditioner."
Horse property is a popular request here. In North San Diego County, as well as East San Diego County, many simply want a ranch style home on a larger lot that allows horses.
